What's New With WuhSawBe?

It's been awhile since I've done one of these updates, so let's see what all has been going on...

On the hobby front, I finished up the 20 Bloodreavers and Bloodstoker, which meant I had cleared off my painting desk once more!  I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out overall, and once again, I had to experiment with the overall color pallet of their skin tones. I also made a little statue using the extra dwarf model from the silver tower box, and it turned out pretty well consider it took me maybe 30 minutes at best!

With no more models left to work on at the time, I decided to give the Metal Earth Guardian model from Halo a try... and let me tell ya, it was a royal pain!  (but I managed!). I shared my accomplishment with the Spartan Dads Halo company, and most people's response was that I was crazy for attempting it... followed by "will you do mine?"  It was such a pain, that I never want to put another together again, so my response was always "heck no!"

Then, about a week ago, I got an invite in regards to starting up a Pathfinder group, and as some of you may know, I'm a big Pathfinder fan (the ACG, Comics, Novels, etc) but I've never been able to do the RPG.  Needless to say, I jumped at the chance!  I've since picked up the core rulebook, and started to develop ideas for some characters.  It also worked out that I didn't have any models left to paint, because I picked up a few of the Reaper Pathfinder miniatures, and have painted up the first one of 3.

I had an idea for a character that was a displaced noblemen, who's estate was essentially taken over by the Chelaxian government, and placed under a steward, most likely a former retainer of my character. (What a traitor!).  Thus, he hates/distrusts Cheliax, and seeks to reclaim his estate and status.  I've decided to roll up a bard character, with the idea that my character would have had tutors in things like fencing and even dabbling in a bit of magic.  Bard magic (in my opinion) would be a nice way to represent his "dabbling in the arts" without him having the strength or impact of a full-fledged wizard.  As far as performances go, I'm envisioning him more of a diplomatic type character, and he's not really performing so much as making grand speeches, maybe recalling a tale from his past glory, or just simply scolding someone as only someone from high society can do.  I'm pretty pleased with how his miniature turned out, and I definitely can't wait to officially roll up his character and get started playing!

As always, I've been playing a lot of video games.  I've tried to play Magic The Gathering on my phone, but sometimes the mechanics can be frustratingly clunky at times.  I've also played a bit of World of Tanks Blitz, but again, I find myself getting frustrated with it too!  My daughter and I got out once to play a little Pokémon GO, and once again, I'm pretty over it!  I've also played a bit of War Thunder, and again, found it frustrating!  (Sensing a theme?). In regards to War Thunder, the aiming reticle is completely imprecise!  I've had my reticle spot on the aim-guide only to have minimal, glancing hits happen, or worse, nothing at all!  What is the point of having it (the aim-guide) and developing your aim, when your shots are going to be off regardless of your reticle-to-guide shows.

On the Xbox, I haven't played a lot of Halo, but I have been playing TONS of destiny as always!  I'm still enjoying the crucible, and have been still trying to raise my light level.  I still shake my head at the fact that I can be so terrible at Halo, and yet be able to hold my own when it comes to other FPS titles.  That said, and I almost hate to say it, but I feel like I may be outgrowing the Spartan Dads in regards to Destiny, and I may end up one day down the road potentially leaving for a guild that has both active (decent) PvPers as well as the potential, drive, and playerbase, to run raids.

Sadly, while I couldn't find a group to run Trials of Osiris, and did do a ton of Iron Banner, ranking up to rank 5 (max) in a single night.  Doing so has raised my light level by several points, and overall I'd say I've had more good games than bad.  There are two weapons that drop within Iron Banner, The Distant Star and Clever Dragon, but I have yet to see one after countless matches!  I can't stand AR's and Shotgunners in PvP, and in a comical fashion, I literally just keep getting those two weapon types over and over!  I can count at least 6 shotguns and 3 AR's, but have yet find a single one of either of those two guns I'm actually searching for!  Grrrr!

Finally, my family and I are getting ready to go on vacation, to Disney in Florida.  (Hopefully dodging hurricane Matthew). One of the ways I've prepped for travel is to pick up the 2 most recent White Dwarfs to read on the plane.  (As an added bonus, I now have an extra slaughterpriest). We also picked up two small games to bring with us, Poo! And Kittens in a Blender!  We've played a few test games, and both seem to be pretty fun!

And there you have it!  Some stuff to talk about, but really not a whole lot in the grand scheme of things.  Since I STILL can't seem to get any games of Saga or AOS in, I'm really hoping this Pathfinder stuff takes off.  Lately, it feels like I'm not getting a lot social interaction with people, outside of Xbox.  I guess we shall have to see...

Until Next Time,

  1. New Khorne Loonies look appropriately red and violent. :)

Love the Pathfinder character idea and look forward to hearing how he fares in your games! Have been playing the rules since since it first came out and it's our standard fantasy rpg rules that we use. Not a fan of the standard D&D style hit points attrition style combat, but otherwise it's easy enough and fun.
