This Geek's Week...

- Reworked my Scorpion Paragons and Scorpion Courtier/Magistrate decks.

- Played a bunch of MWO.

- Started up a Wood Elf in Skyrim.  I'm never going to get through that game since i keep rerolling characters!

... so yeah, another week of little to no gaming.  I don't even think the "gamer" title should apply to me at this point!

This Geek's Week...

- Worked a bit on painting a few more Imperial Fist Scouts.  Also worked on my Hellbringer test model for my Jade Falcon Star.

- This weekend was a "Double XP Weekend" in MWO, so i almost killed myself playing weekend.  Friday, I played from 8 pm - 6 am.  Saturday from 8 pm - 3 am, and Sunday from 8 pm - 3 am as well.  I also played each day in the afternoon for a couple of hours as well.  Needless to say, I'm not as young as I used to be, so I have also been exhausted all weekend to boot!  I haven't played online games like that since my college days and WoW, but it was a fun and interesting experience.  I mastered out my Commandos, took 3 Centurions all the way from built to mastered, and ended the weekend building a playing a Cataphract.  All in all, I think this weekend may have rekindled my interest in MWO...

This Geek's Week...

My painting space, finally all cleaned up!

- Played more Skyrim.

- Tweaked (blindly, no testing) both the gold scheme of my Scorpion Magistrates deck, and the fate side of my Scorpion Paragons in preparation for this Saturday's L5R night.  I also tinkered with my Towers of the Yogo deck.  In it's current state, it is primarily Ninja based, but I'd like to go for a full swarm deck but I lack enough copies of the cheap personalities as most of them are already being used in my other decks.

- Read Dc's New 52, Justice League Vol 1.  It was my first time reading a JL book, but it was a great one!  If the writing stays the same throughout future volumes, then the Justice League may end up possibly being my new favorite superhero team.   Also finished up the New 52 Green Lantern Corps and New Guardians, I enjoyed Corps, but the New Guardians was just ok in my opinion.

- Made it up to the shop on Wednesday.  Helped a new player with his Lion deck, even though I know nothing of the Lion clan.  Played him once with my Yogo deck and won, then once with my friendly Naga deck and lost via honor.

- We had a good sized turnout for out L5R Night.  I ended up playing so many games, with pretty much all of my decks.  Still going to have to do a lot of work if I want to make the local kotei in April...

- Worked in cleaning up and slightly reorganizing my Studio/Paint area in the basement...

A quick look at Kingdom Death: Monster...

Kingdom Death: Monster's kickstarter project recently ended and was a HUGE success, bringing in over 2 million dollars!  I've known about Kingdom Death's miniatures (many of which are NSFW) for quit awhile now, but they have always sold out at such an alarming rate that I had never been able to pick any up!  Hence, why for the 1st time, I chose to back a project on Kickstarter.  While I imagine that production numbers would be greatly increased when the game is released, especially given the success of the KS campaign, I still did not want to take the chance on missing out on the game.

For those that missed the KS campaign, or are unfamiliar of what exactly is Kingdom Death: Monster, I'm posting a little bit of what I know of the game, along with a healthy dose of speculation and opinion on what it will/may entail.  Needless to say, I'm extremely excited for what could easily turn out to be my top game of 2013!

Without further ado, let me introduce you to the "Survivors" of KDM.  You'll be getting to know them very well...

This Geek's Week...

** I'm going to try a different method for presenting what geeky things I have done during the week, mainly due to gaming less, and no one really wants to read "Monday - Skyrim, Tuesday - Skyrim, Wednesday - More Skyrim" when I could just as easily say "I played a bunch of Skyrim this week".  Anyways, on with the show...

- Played a bunch of Skyrim. (LOL)

- Reworked my "Man Cave" in the basement which I have dubbed "The Nerd Lair".  I'll post pictures up soon.

- Decided to back "Kingdom Death: Monster" on Kickstarter.  KDM passed the $1,000,000 mark, making it the highest grossing game on kickstarter so far. (if net sources can be trusted, I haven't verified)  I'm super stoked for this game, and I plan to do a little intro/early/post-kickstarter review soon.

That's it!  So far I've stuck to my "gaming less" resolution.  Next Saturday is the designated "L5R night" at my LGS, so I at least plan to get in a couple of games of L5R next weekend...

Battletech: Lyran 3rd Royal Guards

I've been a Battletech fan for a vast majority of my life.  My 1st introduction to the BT universe came from watching the cartoon when I was in 3rd or 4th grade.    The 1st sci-fi novel I ever purchased myself was  "Way of the Clans' not long after, even though it was waaay above my head at the time!  Battletech was my 1st tabletop miniatures game (although I had the box set with the cardboard stand-ups) some time in middle school.  I've played almost all the Battletech/mechwarrior video games through the years, and even though I hate to admit it, I even played the Mechwarrior Dark Age clix game.   Now I'm 30 years old, and thanks to playing MWO, I have recently been able to rekindle my love for the Battletech universe and start playing Classic Battletech yet again!  In MWO, I'm playing as House Steiner, and as such, I'm doing the same in the tabletop, in the form of the Lyran 3rd Royal Guards.  If anyone's interested in the actual history of the unit, you can check it out on Sarna.net, HERE.  I'm currently playing in the 3039/3050 eras, and all these mechs are only a small portion of those within the latest intro box set...

COM-2D Commando - My favorite mech to pilot in MWO...

My Initial Nerdy Plans for 2013...

So yeah, I'm doing one of those "new year's" posts.  however, unlike the typical "new year's resolution" crap, I'll simply be outlining my plans for all my nerdy, gamer type things for the coming year.

Gaming in General:
I'll probably be spending less time gaming and less time at the gaming store.  Not that one night a week at the LGS was much, but it made getting out and gaming something I was just expected to do.  Just another activity I did on Wednesday nights, making it in a way, less significant.  That said, I'm still going to keep playing L5R every 2nd Saturday, and I'm trying to work on getting back in the loop with my old gaming buddies to start gaming with them again.  I still plan on working on a couple of gaming projects, but in more of a "collector" capacity than anything.  Anyway, here's what stuff I'm looking forward to nerd-wise for the next year...
